Padded Sword

This division is for the competition of belt ranks and all age divisions.

Simulated sparring utilizing padded swords. This is a contact-based division requiring competitors to wear approved headgear, face shield (youth only), groin cup, and chest guard. The objective is to score points by hitting the allowed target areas on the opponent. It is a point-based division, so the judges will award points to the competitor who earns the point first. Two of the three judges must identify a point for it to count. This division is not continuous, and the competitors will return to the start position after each exchange. The division is set up as a sparring bracket. One 45-second round. The winner is determined by who scores the most points. Ties broken by the next point wins. Award placement for 1st, 2nd, and the two tied for 3rd.
